A Resume Is Not A History Of Your Employment. It Is An Argument For One Specific Role
Most resumes we receive are accurate and unconvincing at the same time. They list where somebody worked and what they were responsible for, in the order it happened, with equal weight given to everything. A reader with forty applications on their desk cannot extract a decision from that.
What Changes In Practice
We rebuild the document around the role you are applying for. The evidence that supports your case moves to the top and gets space. Everything that does not support it gets shortened or removed. The result is shorter than what most people send us and says considerably more.
-
You are applying abroad and getting far fewer replies than your experience would suggest.
-
Your career includes relocations, contract work or a career break that is hard to present.
-
You are moving between industries or functions and the connection is not obvious on paper.
-
You have not updated your resume in several years and the market has moved on.
-
You write well but cannot see your own work from a stranger's point of view, which is normal.
